FINDING YOUR PROPERTY:
Is
your house easy to find?
(ask
first time visitors)
Is it
easy to find your way onto the property?
|
Draw attention to your property in some way - large clear
street numbers or house name.
Place a welcoming object at the entrance to your property
that distinguishes it in some way.
Clearly define where you want visitors to enter - perhaps
a gate and/or archway and/or a path.
|
|
BOUNDARIES:
Is it clear where your property ends and another’s begins?
Can neighbours see into your home?
|
Define your property boundaries with screens, fencing or
some thoughtful landscaping to define your space and provide privacy.
If you can see them, they can see you – so think about pot
plants, blinds or timber screens on balconies.
|
|
THE FRONT ENTRANCE:
Does your front entrance invite people (and the chi) to
enter?
Is the entrance appealing?
Is your front door easy to find?
Do you have one clearly identified front door?
Does your font door open easily?
Is the door hung in a way that allows easy flow of energy
into the room?
Does the door open to a free space?
Is your door sheltered from the elements?
Is there somewhere to place your keys or leave your shoes?
Is the first room that you see a kitchen, bedroom or
bathroom?
|
Draw attention to the main door and close off the other
door.
Oil the hinges, do whatever is necessary for it to open
easily.
Erect a roof to protect from the elements and soften with plants.
Lights, flowers, a welcome mat, a front door bell invites visitors.
Consider a fresh coat of paint, an appealing picture,
fresh-cut flowers….something that has universal appeal.
For a small entrance, a glimpse of mirror can create a
feeling of expansion. Don’t hang a large mirror as it can be confronting.
Paint entrance a light colour if it is dark. You can also use a lamp, vase of
bright flowers or pictures that have depth.
A small table or shelf provides a place to "drop your
things" and welcome you or your guests home.
A door that opens awkwardly can impede the flow of Chi
into the building. Sometimes swinging the door in the other direction is
enough.
Close doors to bathrooms and bedrooms or screen from view.
Alternatively, draw attention away with a beautiful lush plant or some sort
of screen.
|
|
EXTERIOR OF HOUSE:
Is your house in good shape?
Do you have a (curved) path to your front door?
Are there any obstacles?
Is the front free of rubbish?
|
Fix or remove anything that is broken, repair cracks,
replace rusty bits, repaint when necessary.
If your path is straight, you can suggest curves with
clever placement of pot plants and encourage the chi to slow down.
Be sure the pathway to your door is free of obstacles.
Remove anything that anyone could slip on or trip over.
Clean it up. Place rubbish bins well away from the front
door.

FRONT
GARDEN
:
Does the garden show you care?
Does the garden have soft curved lines?
Are there any dead plants?
Is there any clutter?
|
If gardening is not something you enjoy, get someone in to
help.
A lush, cared for garden at the front is always welcoming.
Soft planting along the edges can disguise hard, straight
edges.
Remove all dead or dying plants and replace with healthy
living ones.
Clean it up. Remove all that is not necessary. Keep it
simple.
